Nedbank Golf Challenge 2026 · Airport Activation

The Caddie's Call

A turnkey feasibility and commercial proposal to design, build and run the activation at OR Tambo International from 19 November to 3 December 2026.

01 · Feasibility

Deliverable at OR Tambo, with four conditions

Feasible for all 15 live days, 19 November to 3 December 2026.

The concept suits an airport well. It is a single, decision-based play that takes under three minutes, needs no swing space, and holds up in terminal light and noise on a fine-pitch LED wall. The schedule is the main constraint: three weeks from go-ahead to go-live. These four conditions keep it safe.

1

Go-ahead by Mon 2 Nov

Secures LED stock in the festive peak and starts fabrication and the game build. Par can absorb a go-ahead up to Fri 6 Nov.

2

Site and permits in week one

ACSA site allocation, airport permits for crew and staff, and the method statement are the longest-lead items.

3

Two-day sign-offs

Nedbank and NGC approvals on look and feel, competition T&Cs and POPIA consent wording at each gate.

4

CG golfer, not a filmed pro

A computer-generated golfer on an NGC-inspired course keeps the build within three weeks and removes image-rights and shoot-day risk.

Key concerns we have planned for

  • Dwell time and throughput. Travellers are time-poor, so registration happens on their phone while they queue and the play itself runs in about two minutes.
  • Installation windows. Build, rigging and strike are planned as overnight work with airport escorts and scheduled deliveries.
  • Sound in the terminal. Directional speakers at controlled levels so the activation never competes with airport announcements.
  • Data and competition rules. POPIA-compliant consent, South African data hosting, and a promotional competition run under Nedbank's T&Cs in line with the Consumer Protection Act.
  • Continuous operation. A hot-standby game PC, offline-first software, dual connectivity and on-site spares keep the station trading through faults.
02 · Turnkey scope

One partner, brief to strike

RGB Gaming carries the whole activation as a single point of accountability. Scadco, our technology and data partner, provides the South African-hosted registration and results platform and the leads dashboard. Nedbank provides approvals, the NGC ticket draw and the Private banker follow-up.

Experience & game

Concept adaptation, game design, real-time build, decision profiling and airport hardening.

Content

Registration & data

QR and tablet sign-up, POPIA consent, draw entry, digital scorecard and secure lead handover.

People

Trained hosts, technician-operators and an activation manager, rostered for every trading hour.

Logistics & reporting

Transport, overnight install, testing, maintenance, strike, daily reports and a final campaign report.

03 · The play

Be the caddie. Make the call.

Each traveller reads the conditions, makes one decisive call on club, shot line and risk against a countdown, and watches the golfer play it out. The result is a decision profile, a shareable scorecard, an NGC ticket-draw entry and a route into a Nedbank Private conversation.

RegisterScan the QR in the queue and sign up on their phone with consent, or at a host tablet.

Every tier delivers the complete Caddie's Call journey, turnkey and airport-ready. The tiers scale the screen, the station, the depth of content, the trading hours and the reach.

Built for the terminal floor

We adapt a proven real-time golf framework and a licensed swing-animation library rather than building from zero, and build on RGB's existing activation toolkit for registration, leaderboards and AI photo capture. The game runs locally on the station PC, so the experience never depends on the airport network.

09 · Operations

Trading every day, never dark

Operating hours

Par trades 8 hours a day, Birdie 12 and Eagle 14, scheduled around the site's morning and evening passenger peaks. Hours are confirmed once ACSA shares site traffic data.

Staffing

Hosts run the queue, registration and play; a technician-operator runs the system on every shift; the activation manager owns airport and client liaison. The roster includes a relief pool for rest days.

Daily routine

System health check 45 minutes before opening, mid-day clean and calibration, data sync at close, and a daily performance report to Nedbank by 09:00.

Backup and contingency for continuous operation

  • Hot-standby game PC with switchover in under five minutes
  • Offline-first game and registration; results queue and send when the link returns
  • 5G primary connection with automatic LTE failover
  • UPS on all compute and control hardware
  • Spare control module, touch display and tablets on site
  • Remote monitoring with an on-call engineer during trading hours
  • Attract-mode loop on the LED if the game is paused, so the site never looks dark
  • Mid-campaign review on 26 November to tune scenarios, hours and prizes

Long lead

Airport permits and site allocation.

Long lead

LED stock during the festive event peak.

Long lead

Custom station fabrication, about seven working days.

Long lead

Legal sign-off on T&Cs and consent.

12 · Recommended amendments

Small changes, better results

1

Register while queuing

QR sign-up on the traveller's phone cuts station time to about two minutes and lifts throughput.

2

One decisive shot

Three choices on a single shot keeps every play short, fair and easy to understand at a glance.

3

CG over filmed outcomes

More scenarios, faster changes and no shoot day, with no talent or image rights to clear.

4

Physical caddie controls

A dial, joystick and lever feel premium and theatrical, and wear better than touch alone in high traffic.

5

Booked callbacks

Every Next Play opt-in becomes a booked Nedbank Private callback, with bankers on site at scheduled peaks rather than all day.

6

Airside if available

Departures airside offers longer dwell and a premium business audience; landside is the simpler fallback.

7

Digital scorecards

No printers, paper or jams. The result lives on the traveller's phone and is easy to share.

8

Caddie of the Day

A daily leaderboard prize gives frequent flyers a reason to return and play again.

9

Directional audio

Focused sound at the station keeps the experience immersive and airport-friendly.
